It’s been about 3 months since I went to New Zealand and I have yet to blog about it! Totally not like me! However, being pregnant has me ALL out whack. My blogging has been sub-par and I’m sorry friends. BUT! I’m here now and doing it now so get ready!
Making this post, I realized how little I photographed New Zealand, which is kinda terrible. I honestly felt awful the entire trip. I was doing my best to smile + adventure but I was so nauseated and so fatigued (which is SO not like me) with many food aversions. So I just wasn’t as motivated or feeling as creative. I truly don’t recommend planning to travel internationally in your first trimester. The foods, the smells, the desire for your own bed, throwing up into a towel in an 8 passenger van…so glam.
However! I made some great friends + really enjoyed being present on the trip. What I did not photograph with my cameras, I took in with my whole heart and my own personal eye balls. It was rather wonderful being totally present in light of all my pregnancy symptoms. To not be living moments through my phone or my camera 24-7 made me feel like I could really experience the moment instead of worrying about documenting it. I remember the visuals so vividly and feel like I have enough images to suffice telling stories.
Below is my trip to New Zealand…in a combo of digital and film :)
One of the first stops – The Coromandel
Waiheke Island – this place was a bit of torture for me because there were wineries everywhere and I could not partake. Lots of bread + water for this girl. My little group had a wonderful time romping around the island that afternoon.
She never lets me photograph her but below is Stacee Liana – a Cali photographer – who would probably be one of my absolute besties if she lived a bit closer :) She will be shooting one of my summer weddings with me and I CANNOT WAIT!
I was going horseback riding the morning of this couple’s session and literally shot 5 film images and left to catch my bus for riding so below is all I could grab. This was on the lake of Queenstown + taken with film :)
Below is the only shot I got as I was headed to ride horses in Glenorchy which is a very small town outside of Queenstown. I think this was my absolute favorite spot of the trip. Scenes of Lord of The Rings // Wolverine were shot out here and that’s where I road horses with another super dear friend I made on the trip, Meghan Rose Photography. She has a lovely recap of our horse times + pretty much the entire trip on her blog!
All I took was my film camera andddd the battery died right after I took this photo so I have no photos of horsey time.
Headshot Night! We were just a little mob…taking turns shooting whoever was around. Below are a few of the ladies I photographed! The first couple are of mwaaa obviously…by the amazing CJK Visuals! Ten weeks pregnant, on some rocks, lakeside in NZ. My baby is so stinkin’ cool already.
