When I arrived at Nico + Taylor’s house in Baltimore, I went inside and met their little pup. I got to see where they lived their normal, everyday life together and their little front porch. I rode in the backseat of their car as they drove me around the city and they told me about their families and their dreams for their wedding.

Listen – an engagement session isn’t necessary, but wow, I’m so grateful when I get to meet you before your wedding. We have more time to slow down and chat, and I feel like I get such a sweet understanding of who you are and how you love each other. I get to see the way she looks at him and the way he says, “that outfit looks so good on you, babe!!” The slower, relaxed pace of the session gives me a glimpse of what I can look out for on your wedding day and I show up that day feeling like we’re already friends.

I can’t wait for September to see these sweet friends again. I already know Nico won’t be able to quit saying how beautiful Taylor is and he’ll make her laugh nonstop. Taylor will make everyone she interacts with feel like they’re the only person in the room. Their day will be intentional and genuine, and I consider myself lucky to be one of the people that gets to witness this covenant being made.
