I think people get hung up on only doing a portrait session for the big events: weddings, engagements, having babies. But the thing is: there is so much life in between those times! A lot of ordinariness (is this a word? I’m making it a word) that deserves to be savored and celebrated.

Holly & Grant were celebrating their second anniversary during this session, but let me encourage you: document your marriage at 10, 20, or 50 years married. When your kids aren’t just babies, but when they are growing and changing. Just because you want updated portraits. Or want to make a really fun date night out of a photo session. I vote that ordinary moments are just as beautiful as those big moments. Always say yes to savoring your people because life is always moving forward and changing, photographs are a tangible way to slow it down, forever!
