I will never forget photographing this long cookie table at Katlin and Craig’s reception at the historic Belmont Manor in Elkridge, Maryland. 

I’m pretty open around here about my love of cake. Photographing weddings is my favorite thing, but trying wedding cakes is a close second, let’s be honest here!

“The Cookie Table” is a Pittsburgh tradition where every woman from the family makes a cookie of sorts and brings it to the wedding. It is SO impressive to see the care that goes into creating this huge buffet of delicious cookies! 

I was photographing some older ladies from the family fidgeting with the cookie table. Before I knew it, one of the grandmothers took me by the hand and insisted I try them. Right then and there. During cocktail hour as things are being set up before guests have even seen this cookie table! I felt like I was breaking every vendor rule in the book!

I wasn’t going to argue TOO hard with her, so I walked away with about 14 cookies in my belly all because grandma made me do it.  

Cookies aside, this was a beautiful fall wedding + these people made me feel like family. I had photographed Katlin & Craig’s engagement session and had many chats with Kate leading up to their big day. We have a lot in common and it truly felt like I was photographing a friend. She was giddy the entire day and was downright lovely!
