I'm Brianna. Pennsylvania based wedding + portrait photographer. My hair is typically in a messy bun, I usually have a baby on my hip, and I never say no to cake. I want photographs to feel as good as they look, and my overly sentimental, married, momma heart knows the weight of soulful photographs all too well.

When to Schedule a Newborn Session

This coming winter, I have more maternity and newborn sessions than ever before, and I am so excited!! It is absolutely no secret how much I enjoy photographing families, newborns, and mamas to be. Earlier this year, I did a blogpost about when to schedule your maternity session (you can check it out here!). So now, I think it’s time to talk about when to schedule a newborn session!

First things first, newborn sessions always take place in your home. Photographing your newborn at home is really special because it’s the first place you bring them to and everything changes after they are here! And if this house isn’t your forever home, you’ll always have these photos to look back on as the place your family started.

Newborn sessions are one of the few style sessions I will travel for because I think it is really important to capture you and your baby in the place you bring them home to! I typically schedule a newborn session 7-10 days after your due date. Don’t let that stress you out though! I know full well that babies can come early or late, so I am always willing to bump the date around depending on how mom and baby are doing!

Now, please enjoy this adorable maternity and family session with the Trostle Family!

Ps: If you’re looking for a place to shop for maternity clothes, this dress is from Nothing Fits But!
