I'm Brianna. Pennsylvania based wedding + portrait photographer. My hair is typically in a messy bun, I usually have a baby on my hip, and I never say no to cake. I want photographs to feel as good as they look, and my overly sentimental, married, momma heart knows the weight of soulful photographs all too well.

Linwood Estates Wedding | Sam + Diane

There was nothing quite like Sam’s reaction to his bride coming down the aisle at this classic Linwood Estate wedding in Carlisle, PA. He was the definition of pure joy when he saw Diane for the first time!

The traditional first look (seeing each other at the aisle) is quite the topic of debate for couples…even families!

First looks typically take place before the wedding ceremony, allowing the bride & groom to see each other earlier in the day. They have the privilege of doing this in private, so they can react however they want and spend time talking, praying, etc.

With an earlier first look, the majority of photos happen before the ceremony which allows couples to attend cocktail hour! My couples that do first looks usually end up with more portraits overall in their wedding galleries.

Here is an example of a wedding I photographed at the Linwood Estate where the couple chose to do a first look before the ceremony!

However, it’s a beautiful tradition when the bride and groom see each other for the first time in front of all their favorite people….like Sam & Diane! It’s a classic, exciting moment. It’s special to share that with family & friends!

Sometimes brides are concerned that the groom will not have strong feelings when she walks down the aisle if they share a first look before the ceremony. From my experience, this is simply not the case!

I have seen MANY grooms in tears as their bride comes down the aisle, even after having a first look….the weight of that moment is iconic and intense.

Pro tip: save your veil for the aisle if you opt for a first look! It’s a little extra drama for your groom as you come down the aisle!

This wedding was photographed by my lovely associate photographer, Susie. From what I can see in the photos, I missed one heck of a dance party! Diane & Sam’s reception is bursting with joy, family, and fun.

See another gorgeous wedding photographed by Susie here!
